The Independent has quietly launched its own corrections and clarifications column, a mere fortnight after Northcliffe House neighbour the Daily Mail did the same. But Monkey hears that the column, tucked at the bottom of page 18 in Wednesday's Indy, will not be a permanent fixture. "It will appear only if we have something to correct," a senior executive at the Independent says. Another describes it as a "one off". Almost 90 pages a day, countless thousands of words, and no complaints? Monkey can only doff his cap.
