The first round of the revised qualifying to settle positions 13-33 for the 110th Running of the Indianapolis is in the books.
Advancing into the Fast 12 are Felix Rosenqvist (Meyer Shank Racing), David Malukas (Team Penske), Conor Daly (Dreyer & Reinbold Racing), Scott McLaughlin (Team Penske), Rinus VeeKay (Juncos Hollinger Racing with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing), 2016 “500” winner Alexander Rossi (ECR), rookie Caio Collet (AJ Foyt Racing), 2008 Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), Pato O'Ward (Arrow McLaren), Santino Ferrucci (AJ Foyt Racing), defending Indy 500 winner Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing), and Kyffin Simpson (Chip Ganassi Racing).
Positions now locked for the Indy 500 are 13th and back, led by two-time Indy 500 winner Takuma Sato in 13th, after establishing a four-lap average of 230.995mph.
ECR driver/owner Ed Carpenter, a three-time pole-sitter of the Indy 500, was 14th (230.829mph), ahead of four-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves slotting 15th (230.811mph) in the #06 Meyer Shank Racing Honda.
"That's not going to be good enough,” Carpenter said, after his run. “Unfortunately, for the SlimFast Chevrolet. The cars have good speed, but I just had big chunk of understeer in (Turn) 2. I tried to stay flat, but I was going to hit the wall, if I didn't lift. Disappointed. Doubtful, well, all but know that's not going to get through to the top 12 with how close it is, so we'll probably be 15th to 20th."
Christian Rasmussen put his #21 ECR Chevrolet 16th (230.705mph), with Meyer Shank Racing’s Marcus Armstrong 17th (230.701mph), and Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson, the 2022 Indy 500 winner, in 18th (230.667mph).
The #7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet of Christian Lundgaard ended up 19th (230.661mph).
Will Power, the 2018 Indy 500 winner, was 20th in the #26 Andretti Global Honda after a four-lap run at 230.279mph. Nolan Siegel’s #6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet was 21st (230.213mph).
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Louis Foster was 22nd (230.212mph), ahead of 2014 Indy 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay’s #31 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet in 23rd (230.202mph).
One of the bigger surprises was two-time “500” winner Josef Newgarden, who struggled mightily compared to his teammates and put his #2 Team Penske Chevrolet 24th (230.165mph).
Romain Grosjean’s #18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda put in a run that ended up 25th (229.791mph). Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood was 26th (229.607mph), with Katherine Legge’s #11 HMD Motorsports with AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet 27th (229.456mph).
Row 10 was led by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Rookie Mick Schumacher, who qualified 28th in his #47 Honda after a four-lap run of 229.450mph. Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Jack Harvey was unable to convert his quick single-lap from the week’s practices and ended up 29th (229.207mph). Graham Rahal was 30th after a 229.017mph four-lap run in his #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda.

Dale Coyne Racing rookie Dennis Hauger starts his first Indy 500 from the last row after a four-lap 228.982mph in the #19 Honda. Jacob Abel, driving the #51 Abel Motorsports Chevrolet, will start his first Indy 500 32nd (228.169mph).
Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Sting Ray Robb endured a rough run, having to back out of the throttle multiple times that resulted in him slotting last with a four-lap average of 226.572mph.
Qualifying for the Fast 12 begins at 4p.m. ET.
