Industry's Marisa Abela marries West End actor Jamie Bogyo in 'heartfelt' wedding at Sussex manor house

Industry star Marisa Abela has married West End actor Jamie Bogyo at a romantic 15th-century manor in Sussex.

The Bafta-winning actress, 28, and her partner, 31, met when they were in the same year at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 2016 and began dating three years later.

They got engaged at Primrose Hill in London last July and had a legal ceremony at Islington Town Hall last week, before going all out for “the most personal, heartfelt” wedding with all their family and friends at Firle Place in East Sussex on Saturday.

Abela - who played Amy Winehouse in the Back To Black biopic - wore an Emilia Wickstead gown and walked down the aisle to the theme from Cinema Paradiso, the film the couple watched together before saying “I love you”.

Bogyo’s best man, Nate Janis, officiated the ceremony and both Abela and Bogyo’s fathers gave emotional readings, while their drama school friends, Liadán Dunlea and Iwan Davis, performed a moving rendition of May You Never by John Martyn.

“We wrote our own vows,” Abela told British Vogue, who captured photos of the wedding.

She went on: “We actually did a legal ceremony at Islington Town Hall the week before, which was incredibly special and intimate, with just our parents in attendance and a lunch at one of our favorite local spots afterward.

“This meant that our ceremony at Firle could be totally unique to us, a real celebration of who we are as people and what we mean to one another.

“It was the greatest moment of our lives. We cried, of course. Completely overwhelmed. There was just so much love in that room. It was just the most personal, heartfelt ceremony.”

Abela opted for a dramatic nine-foot veil to complement her wedding dress, which was inspired by Audrey Hepburn and featured a drop waist, corset, and off-the-shoulder sleeves

The actress - who found fame playing Yasmin Kara-Hanani in the HBO drama Industry - paired the gown with Jimmy Choo Max 150 heels, which were personalised with the couple's initials on the sole.

Bogyo, meanwhile, looked dapper in a custom double-breasted tuxedo by Dunhill.

After the ceremony, Abela changed into a second Emilia Wickstead dress, the ivory Micheline gown, for the evening reception.

In a nod to where Abela grew up, the couple and their guests then headed to Soho House Brighton, where they had dinner followed by a night of dancing.

Bogyo announced their engagement last summer, sharing photos of the proposal and the couple hugging on Instagram with the jokey caption: “She said she’ll think about it!”

Abela commented on the post: “A weeping mess.”

The actress was surprised by her friends and family at the park after Bogyo’s proposal.
