Industry heavyweights join Scottish finance body

Two financial services sector veterans have been named as new board members of the industry’s body in Scotland.

Anthony Rafferty, managing director of fintech Origo Services and Vida Rudkin, a managing director at Morgan Stanley in Glasgow, are the latest new additions announced to the board of Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) in the last six months.

The recruitment of Rafferty and Rudkin follows the appointment of new chairman, Philip Grant of Lloyds Banking Group, in June and Sue Dawe, EY’s head of financial services in Scotland, as board director in May.

Grant said the latest appointments were “hugely positive for the organisation, our membership and the wider industry”.

“Following the introduction of a new strategy two years ago SFE’s role, in addition to representation, is now firmly anchored in facilitating collaboration across our diverse and accomplished financial services ecosystem.”

He highlighted a number of significant strategic developments over the past year including the launch of the first prospectus designed to promote the industry in Scotland and the creation of a Scotland-wide schools programme to highlight opportunities in the sector to young people from all backgrounds.

The new directors will be attending the SFE annual dinner which takes place on Thursday this week at the EICC. At the event the winners of the Scottish Financial Services Awards 2019 will be announced, sponsored by EY. The ceremony will be hosted by broadcaster Huw Edwards with more than 650 people expected to attend.

Before joining Origo, Rafferty held a number of senior roles in the life, pensions and investments industry.

Rudkin joined the Morgan Stanley Glasgow office in 2010 after ten years working in London in various roles across UBS, Barclays Capital and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.
