Recruitment industry heavyweights are among the investors who have piled £500,000 into a crowdfunding campaign for Scottish technology start-up Candidate.ID.
The Glasgow firm's new backers included international HR and recruitment experts Tim Sackett, Adam Godson and former RBS Global HR director Neil Roden. It says it will use the cash to boost its AI capabilities.
Adam Gordon, CEO and Co-Founder at Candidate.ID, said: “This crowdfunding campaign was unique as we initially offered it only to industry peers, as an advocacy-building campaign as much as to raise funds. We raised £500,000 in four weeks from 550 investors and closed the campaign early.
"Over half of our investors are directly involved in HR and recruitment and include some truly world-famous practitioners within the discipline. We’re really excited about what this investment means for us. Above all, it represents confidence in our growth potential, product and business plan.”
The latest investment follows an investment in January of £500,000 in seed funding from Jacobo Invest UG.
Candidate.ID was founded by former PwC HR consultant Adam Gordon and ex-P&G marketer Scott McRae in 2016. It describes its technology as the world's first "talent pipeline software". This saves companies time and resources by telling them which candidates are "cold, warm and hire-ready" in real time by creating automated shortlists of prospective hires.
Customers include Capita, Nationwide, Specsavers, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Mondelez International. It was the winner at the Recruiting Technology Startup Awards in San Francisco in March and of the global recruitment start-up competition at UNLEASH World Conference in October 2018.
