Industry-backed vax drive hits 50,000-mark in Aurangabad

AURANGABAD: The industry supported vaccination drive in Aurangabad — being carried out under the aegis of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) — has crossed the 50,000-mark.

The drive, which is also supported by the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture (CMIA), Marathwada Association of Small Scale Industries and Agriculture (MASSIA) and Aurangabad First, among other bodies, has covered not only industrial workforce and their families, but also members of the communities living around the industrial areas of Aurangabad.

To celebrate the milestone of administering 50,000 vaccine doses, the CII and different industrial bodies associated with it on Tuesday held a formal event in the presence of industry captains and government authorities.

Speaking on the occasion, Aurangabad zilla parishad CEO Nilesh Gatne lauded the efforts taken for effective implementation of industry supported vaccination drive. “The local industrial bodies have set a precedent by carrying out vaccination of their staff and locals on their own,” he said.

CII Maharashtra vice-president Sriram Narayanan said the industry supported vaccination drive was the need of the hour considering the grim pandemic situation. “Covid Appropriate Behaviour alone cannot help in containing the spread of Covid-19 and the shield of vaccination is essential to beat the pandemic. We thank all the 50,000 individuals who got themselves vaccinated through us,” he said.

The drive was started on July 21, 2021.
