Industries' sentiment weakens

The Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) in April decreased to 95.0 points from 96.3 in March amid the global economic slowdown, US-China trade war and weak exports.

Supant Mongkolsuthree, chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, announced the figure on Thursday. He said the business confidence index fell for the first time in four months also because the long holiday in April, slowdown of purchasing power and drought.

The April TISI was compiled from a survey of 1,213 companies in 45 industrial sectors.

The FTI forecast the TISI would hit 101.9 over the next three months, down from 104.2 points projected previously, due to instability in the world economy resulting from the US-China trade war, currency exchange rates and Thai political uncertainties.
