MUMBAI: A special CBI court has rejected Indrani Mukerjea's plea to personally cross-examine her murdered daughter Sheena Bora's fiance Rahul Mukerjea, the 69th witness in the case against her and two others. The court noted that this could not be allowed in murder trials and when Indrani had a lawyer to represent her.
It also rejected the CBI's plea to exhibit some documents allegedly procured from Rahul during the probe and produced during his deposition. It includes Sheena's "two birth certificates" and other personal documents.
Meanwhile, the court gave Indrani six more weeks to furnish surety. The plea was moved by her advocate Sana Raees Khan, who submitted that a woman doctor would stand surety and the paperwork would take about three weeks.
