INDORE: A student of Maharaja Ranjit Singh College of Professional Sciences has lodged a ragging complaint against seniors to the college authorities.
The student, a resident of Ujjain district alleged that he lives in the college hostel and two seniors have ragged him.
In written application, he mentioned that he was threatened and asked to wash clothes.
“Two seniors used to ask me to wash utensils and clothes. I have all the proofs against them,” said the student who hadn’t specified the names of the seniors ragging him.
In the written complaint to the college officials, he also claimed that the college officials didn’t take any action when he had lodged a verbal complaint. Therefore, he has lodged a written complaint.
On the other hand, principal of Maharaja Ranjit Singh College of Professional Sciences, Dr Anand Nighojkar told TOI that he has received a written complaint.
“The institute cannot call it a ragging case as we have just received a complaint. Three-member committee is investigating the matter,” he added.
According to Nighojkar, the protocol will be followed and in a span of 48 hours, the report will be submitted by the committee. He is expecting the report on November 22. On the basis of this report action will be taken.
“The complaint doesn’t have mentioned names of the accused. The committee will call the complainant too and speak with him. If it comes out that the student was ragged, we will report the issue at police station,” he added.
This is the first ragging complaint for the academic session 2022-23.
