INDORE: A man in his thirties allegedly gave ‘triple talaq’ to his wife, resident of MIG area in Indore over mobile phone as she delivered a baby girl, police said.
MIG police acting on a complaint of a 32-year-old tuition teacher Aleena Khan registered an FIR against her husband Aas Mohammad Khan, police said.
The accused was booked under section 4 of Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Act along with section ¾ of dowry harassment act and 498-A, 323,294,506,34 of IPC for dowry harassment, beating and others, police said. Police station in-charge Ajay Verma told TOI, “The accused husband had allegedly pronounced talaq thrice over phone to give the complainant talaq as she didn’t deliver a baby boy.”
“The accused had also been harassing her physically and mentally demanding Rs 5 lakh. When she denied, the accused along with her in-laws beat her badly,” said TI Verma.
The complainant moved to Indore to her family. Both the complainant and her husband were living in Indore after their marriage before leaving for UP, as he got addicted to intoxicating himself, said TI Verma.
Aleena got married to Aas Mohammad, resident of Hapur district of UP in June 2009. They both entered a dispute within three months of marriage as he began to harass her for failing to provide dowry, police said.
The couple were blessed with a baby girl in 2014 and the harassment increased. Her husband and brotherin-law began to beat her up more badly. Later she along with her husband shifted to Indore, police said. TNN
