Indore: Hindu Raksha Manch protests against 'anti-national activities', police book 2,500 people in night

INDORE: Over 1000 members of a right-wing organisation on Tuesday staged a protest demanding action on multiple issues including ‘anti-national activities’and submitted a memorandum to DIG.

Members of Hindu Raksha Manch marched from three different locations to reach DIG office raising slogans like Hindustan me rahna hoga, Vande Matram kahna hoga’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Jai-Jai Siya Ram’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad to reach DIG office to submit memorandum.

The protestors blocked one side of the road causing huge inconvenience to commuters while protesting for around two hours in the morning outside the campus of DIG office at Regal square. The protest was a reaction to a series of events unfolded in aftermath of beating up of a 25-year-old bangle seller in Govind Nagar area under limits of Banganga police station on Sunday afternoon (August 22).

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Manish Kapooria, however, said “We have heard grievances of members of the organisation in different issues. The police have taken appropriate action in all such cases, incidents.” “But, the police will not allow anyone to breach the social harmony of the district”, said DIG Kapooria. The police will further take care that any such incidents couldn’t happen in the district, added DIG Kapooria.

The situation became tense on August 22 night in the district, when thousands of people surrounded Central Kotwali police station demanding registration of complaint in the alleged beating of a bangle seller.

In the late midnight development on Tuesday, Chhoti Gwaltoli police has registered a case against 2500 unknown members of Hindu Raksha Manch for holding a rally and demonstration without permission.

Police station incharge Sanjay Shukla said, "The protest, rally was organised without permission from the authorities against order of district magistrate issued under section 144 of CrPC." So, we have booked around 2500 unknown people under sections 188 of IPC for disobeying government servants order, said Shukla.

He said, "There was no organiser. Many organisation has taken a part in it. So, we will carryout identification through video footages and name the accused later."
