Indore first district to cross halfway mark of vaccination drive

INDORE: Indore on Thursday has become the first district to cross the halfway mark in administering Covid-19 vaccine doses to beneficiaries aged above 18 years.

The district achieved this feat in the first half an hour of the drive as it was only 9,000 behind on Thursday from the mark of 28.07 lakh doses.

The district inoculated around 72,679 people to achieve a cumulative inoculation of 28.68 lakh including 5.52 lakh second doses.

Immunisation officer in-charge Dr Tarun Gupta said, “The district has crossed 50% inoculation of doses of Covid-19 vaccines against the target of around 56 lakh.”

During the drive, district officials have identified around 28.07 lakh people for inoculation of vaccines. Every individual must undergo two doses of any vaccine candidate to complete vaccination, said Dr Gupta.

To complete vaccination of all 18 plus people, over 56.14 lakh doses are required, added Dr Gupta.

The records suggest that the district has so far achieved inoculation of around 81% with first dose. The health authorities decided to complete first dose inoculation of all aged above 18 in MP by September. Of those 72679, 43000 were aged between 18-44 years followed by 20000 in age group of 45-59 with their either doses.

The vaccination drive was carried out on 206 sites. The authorities will carry out vaccination drive on 10 sites for inoculation of pregnant women.
