Indore, Alirajpur covers maximum 94% kids with vaccines till July in current financial year

INDORE: Two months after lagging in full immunisation coverage of children in the start of current financial year, Indore along with Alirajpur has covered 94% of targeted kids to remain on top in division, shows record.

There are only two districts to remain below average coverage kids in the state i.e. 78% in between April and July.

But all of them remained well above 70% of coverage, shows a presentation made before the health commissioner in a review meeting two days back.

District authorities perform vaccination of children aged upto five years under a universal immunisation programme of the Union government to protect them against diseases such as haemophilus influenza type B — a bacterium which causes meningitis, pneumonia as well as otitis.

Regional director (Health services) Indore division Dr Ashok Dagaria said, “All districts in the division along with the state suffered hugely in respect of all programmes because of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in April and May.”

``This wave led to diversion of focus, human resource on it along with COVID-19 vaccination, which was going on amidst it on its pace to affection others”, said Dr Dagaria.

But, later we had picked up and covered beneficiaries, completed tasks allotted to us in different health programmes to remain the best performer in all divisions in the state, said Dr Dagaria.

“Indore always remained on top in full immunisation coverage of children year after year because of infrastructure, its focus and dedicated work. But the work of Alirajpur to remain on top is comendable’, said Dr Dagaria.

The other districts meanwhile are instructed to match up and complete the target in coming months, added Dr Dagaria.

Indore lagged in full immunisation coverage (FIC) during the second wave by 40%, when it covered only 8109 children with full immunisation against a target of 13,256 in the district in the first two months of this financial year.
