Indore: 36 senior officials to oversee tracing of left outs in door-to-door survey for vaccination drive

INDORE: District administration has shouldered 36 senior officials with responsibility of motivating people to get jab at vaccination sites during mega drive on August 25 and 26 through door-to-door survey.

The officials will carry out the survey through ward-wise and panchayat-wise committees to trace the left out people and ascertain their reason for the not taking vaccine shots. The administration is targeting to inoculate left out beneficiaries, including pregnant women, to complete 100% administration of first dose by vaccinating 2.53 lakh population in two days.

Collector Manish Singh, during an orientation programme held in Ravindra Natya Grah on Monday, ordered the officials to perform the door-to-door survey.

He asked them to take the work seriously and submit a report within seven days after the survey. During a presser held along side orientation, Collector Singh said, “We are targeting five per cent of the selected population, including pregnant women, for first dose during the mega drive.”

“We have received around 1.10 lakh doses of Covishield from state government for the mega drive but further seeking more so that we could inoculate as many as we can. Special camps in 19 zones in urban areas and constituency-wise in rural areas with arrangements like sitting area, water, waiting room to facilitate pregnant women vaccination, are being set up,” said the collector.

Some of them will be permanent and continue for every day since then, he added.

Water resources minister Tulsiram Silawat said, “We will make vaccination mega drive successful with help of people’s representatives, their participation will make it a mass movement like earlier.”

District immunisation in charge Dr Tarun Gupta said, “We will target for inoculation of at least 1.50 lakh during mega drive as per target with Covishield and rest with Covaxin. We have a stock of 40,000 Covishield and 1.10 lakh are being received for the mega drive. The Covaxin stock is in sufficient number for the drive.”

Records show that at 37,000, Indore-2 constituency has maximum number people due to take the jab.
