INDORE: Indore district has reported a dip daily average testing in month of July as it progressed leading to a 12% reduction in third week from first week, showed record of daily health bulletin.
The records suggested that the samples tested in third week remained only at 62066, which was lower than 70327 ones in first week. This also led to over 57% in detection of positive cases in third week in comparison to first week.
When the officials were asked about reason behind it they put it over people’s resistance, weather, less symptomatic cases at fever clinics, low sampling on Sunday and others.
Sampling in charge Dr Abdullah Faruqui said, “We are sampling around 7,000 to 10,000 samples on daily basis at present.” The guidelines from state government however prescribed them for around 10,000 samples on daily basis.
On this lowering in sample testing Dr Faruqui said, “There is a decline in symptomatic patients turning out at OPD of fever clinics so less samples are collected from there. In order to maintain that gap the team went to crowded places in district to collect samples.”
Right now, however, there is very less sampling on Sundays that is leading to less sample collection along with rain creating an issue in it, said Dr Faruqui.
The health authorities have further removed team sampling the passengers coming to Indore through airways. It is also costing hundreds of samples daily to authorities.
Confirming it Dr Faruqui said, “The team at airport was removed as it was from private lab collecting and testing samples of people coming to city through airways.”
The authorities are however going to post a dedicated team at railway station for sampling which could help them in increasing the sample collection.
