INDORE: Around 25 teams of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College will visit selected wards of Indore Municipal Corporation on Friday for last time to collect over 100 samples, which are left in target for sero-survey of kids.
The team on Thursday collected 636 samples in the day to increase total collection to 1892. The teams of medical college have been collecting blood samples of kids aged below 18 since August 9 as a part of sero-survey to know prevalence of coronavirus.
MGM dean Dr Sanjay Dixit said, “The teams have collected 1892 samples till now. The team will again go to the field on Friday and the sample collection will be completed by tomorrow after collecting 109 samples left in the target.”
The leftover samples are mostly of the age group of children above nine years of age. We are also analysing the collected samples information to complete the survey in accordance with plan, said Dr Dixit.
The samples are just between three to 4.59% of total population from each 25ward selected under the sero-survey. Of those 2000 samples, a maximum of 1400 were planned for adolescents aged between 10-18, 400 from 7-9 and 200 from 1-6 years old kids.
Dr Dixit also added, “In every group, some additional samples will be collected in order to avoid any technical issues during testing.”
Further in the day, the district reported decline in areas with new infections in the last 24 hours, showed a daily area-wise analysis.
The list suggested that the number of areas with new infections dipped to three on Thursday from four on Friday with simultaneous dip in daily infections. The number of areas with new infections dipped to three from four from Tuesday to Wednesday.
