After more than 13 weeks a popular indoor market has revealed plans to reopen with a larger floor space to help with social distancing.
The Sunday Fine Food & Craft Market will return to Chilwell's former Barton bus garage this weekend (June 21), its first outing since lockdown started.
The bi-monthly event was forced to close in March due to government restrictions in place designed to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic but this week as guidelines relaxed organisers announced they were back in business.
The food and craft market, which has been running since 2017, will be running the first and third Sunday of the month between June and August.
The traders at The Garage are all local, independent businesses specialising in prize-winning artisan foods such as patisserie, sweet and savoury pies, spices and cheeses.
The extensive craft section showcases a range of talented artists and producers making everything from jewellery to wooden trinkets.
Previously the market was completely undercover, but for the time being it will be held both inside and outside the venue to allow for more space and a manageable queuing system, in line with the current guidance on social distancing.
Events coordinator James Barton, said: “It's been a challenge........we've had to limit the number of traders because of social distancing but we were overwhelmed by the support/success of last week's Pop-Up Farmers Market.
“Though we're restricted a little at the moment and are not able to run our pop up cafe/bar, we hope that as the situation and guidelines evolve we may be able to offer an outdoor seating area when allowed.”
The Market returns this weekend on Sunday, June 21.
