Indonesia's chief security minister has appealed for calm after violent protests in the remote Papua province.

Accusations of racial and ethnic discrimination, added to concerns that local Papuans have not shared in Indonesia's exploitation of the region's mineral resources, have caused unrest in the region for the past two weeks.
