With cinemas allowed to reopen again, an indie cinema, Doc Club & Pub is screening seven indie movies until tomorrow. Here is the full line-up.
Red Aninsri and Forget Me Not (Thailand)
The special programme presents two different types of women in two Thai films, Red Aninsri and Forget Me Not. Red Aninsri follows the story of Ang, a transgender prostitute and secret service member whose mission is to hit on a male activist. Meanwhile, Forget Me Not is an adaptation of the classic novel Behind The Painting by Sri Burapha.
Aswang (Philippines)
After two years of the war on drugs by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, over 20,000 men, women and children have been killed, most of whom come from impoverished neighbourhoods. The film follows the life of a little boy born in this cruel system and a man who tries to fight it.
A Summer's Tale (French)
A new graduate, Gaspard, has a three-week vacation by the sea in Bretagne before starting a new job. During this time, Gaspard becomes involved in complicated relationships between three women. The film reflects various dimension of personalities and features intriguing dialogues.
Finding Vivian Maier (USA)
American amateur street photographer Vivian Maier makes a living as a nanny. However, her unknown cache of 100,000 photographs earned her a reputation as one of the most accomplished street photographers.
Pavarotti (USA-UK-France-Italy)
A biography of a legendary opera singer Luciano Pavarotti who was born in a working-class family. In addition to his work, the documentary features personal footage and interviews with his closest friends and family members.
The New Rijksmuseum (Netherlands)
The Dutch national museum Rijksmuseum has collected more than a million art objects and was under renovation for a decade.
The documentary takes viewers to meet the people behind the scenes during the demolition, restoration, and political and financial debates and their love of art.
Every film is screened with Thai subtitles (English subtitles are available for non-English speaking movies). Tickets are 150 baht.
