India's T20I squad for England and Ireland tour announced: Shreyas replaces Suryakumar as skipper; Check full squad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India T20 International squad for England and Ireland tour 2026, replacing Suryakumar Yadav with Shreyas Iyer as skipper.

Shreyas Iyer is set to lead India's new T20I captain for the upcoming tour of England and Ireland followed by Asian Games 2026. Tilak Varma is appointed as the vice-captain, replacing Axar Patel for the battles ahead.

15-year old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also claimed a spot in the international squad "through his performances with so much talent around in T20 cricket," as Indian Men's cricket team chief selector Ajit Agarkar said. This marks his maiden call-up to the India squad.

"Regarding red-ball cricket, why jump the gun? We are excited with what Sooryavanshi is doing. Right now, let him be in T20 cricket," Agarkar said while announcing the squad.

The chief selector praised Vaibhav Sooryavanshi saying, "He almost singlehandedly carried Rajasthan Royals... For a young kid to back it up in as competitive and high-pressure environments. He can be a game-changer... We have high hopes for him."
