Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor sprains ankle; timetable to return unknown

MINNEAPOLIS _ Francisco Lindor has more to deal with than just a calf issue.

The Indians announced on Wednesday that Lindor sprained his left ankle during an intrasquad game with the Akron RubberDucks in Goodyear, Ariz. An MRI revealed that it is consistent with a mild to moderate sprain. He has already been placed on the injured list with a strained right calf, which he sustained before spring training.

Lindor's timeframe to return has yet to be determined, as he's now dealing with injuries to both legs. But, as manager Terry Francona said, Lindor did walk off the field.

"Frankie was running the bases yesterday in a game and he went in between first and second and got caught in a rundown and the dirt gave way a little bit and he twisted his ankle," Francona said. "It's hard to give a timetable because he's already battling something else."

Lindor's status, as well as a potential timetable to return to action, could be updated in a few days.
