CHICAGO _ Sunday's White Sox-Indians game had a little bit of everything.
There was an outstanding duel between starting pitchers Lucas Giolito and Shane Bieber. The Sox got to experience Major League Baseball's new extra-innings setup for the first time.
And there was an extra-inning rain delay in the Sox's first appearance on ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" since 2013.
The Indians scored twice in the 10th to defeat the Sox 5-4 at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Under the new rules, each half-inning after the ninth begins with a runner on second base.
Jose Ramirez started the 10th on second for the Indians. He moved to third on an infield hit by Carlos Santana and scored on a squeeze bunt by Delino DeShields to give the Indians a 4-3 lead. Mike Freeman knocked in another run with a single.
With rain falling hard, Sox catcher James McCann drove in a run with a single to make it 5-4. The Sox placed runners on first and second with one out when the game went into a rain delay with Leury Garcia at the plate.
After the 46-minute delay, Garcia popped out to second and Yoan Moncada struck out.
The game featured two of the top starting pitchers in the American League, and they did not disappoint.
Giolito allowed two runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and five walks in seven innings. Bieber allowed three runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in six innings.
Bieber had given up just two runs in his first three starts (0.83 ERA).
Jose Abreu homered to left in the second to give the Sox a 1-0 lead.
The Indians scored twice in third. Cesar Hernandez drove in a run with a double. Ramirez followed with an RBI single.
The Sox scored twice in the sixth to reclaim the lead. McCann, who had three hits, homered to tie the game. First baseman Yasmani Grandal drove in Moncada with a double to give the Sox a 3-2 lead.
The Indians tied it with a two-out run in the eighth off Evan Marshall. Santana walked and scored on a double to left-center by Franmil Reyes.
