CHICAGO _ White Sox left fielder Melky Cabrera had four hits and Jose Abreu hit a three-run home run, but that wasn't enough to avoid the team's 14th loss in 15 games, 5-4 to the Indians.
The Indians, meanwhile, won their ninth in a row in funky fashion.
White Sox reliever Gregory Infante hit the first two batters he faced after coming in with runners on first and second and two out in the ninth. The second forced in the winning run.
Abreu's 19th home run, which came with two on in the third, pulled the Sox to within one just after the Indians had scored three times on five hits in the top of the inning.
Alen Hanson and Tim Anderson hit back-to-back doubles in the sixth to tie the score 4-4 against Indians starter Corey Kluber, who struck out 12, walked one and allowed nine hits in 61/3 innings.
The White Sox loaded the bases against Kluber and reliever Andrew Miller in the seventh but failed to score. They did the same in the eighth against Miller and again came away without scoring.
