Indiana voted against Big Ten’s decision to send Ohio State to Big Ten Championship Game

Lost in all the hubbub of the Big Ten sending Ohio State to the Big Ten Championship game by revoking the six-game minimum requirement for teams to be eligible, is how the vote went earlier this week. We of course have the Big Ten statement on the league’s athletic directors, Presidents and Chancellors, and Administrative Council.

And while the vote appears to have had the support of the majority of the Big Ten’s members, it does not appear to have been a unanimous one that the conference typically desires.

You can probably guess at least one school that didn’t vote for the Big Ten to scrap the minimum game policy outlined, and you would be correct. According to comments made by Indiana athletic director Scott Dolson, he did not vote for the change.

If you’re an Ohio State fan, you really shouldn’t be upset by Indiana’s vote. It’s understandable to stomp for your own team, and frankly, had OSU been in the same position, Buckeye fans would want their administrators to vote for a policy that benefitted their team’s best interests as well.

At least give Indiana credit for voting one way, but then issuing a statement of understanding, then doubling down on those with support for the process, and Ohio State going to Indianapolis.
