Indiana officials made the decision to revoke the liquor license of 11:11 Bar & Grille in Indianapolis after a tragic incident over the weekend. The bar, located on the city's far east side, was the scene of a shooting that resulted in one fatality and injuries to five others, including a police officer.
The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission unanimously voted to revoke a liquor license extension for the bar, which was operating under the permit of another establishment while appealing the denial of its own permit.
The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when a disturbance broke out in the bar's parking lot. Two off-duty Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers, who were in full uniform, responded to the situation. Both officers engaged in gunfire with at least one suspect, resulting in one officer being shot in the upper thigh and sustaining a shoulder injury. The injured officer has since been released from the hospital.
Four other individuals in the parking lot were also shot during the incident. They were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims included two 45-year-old men, a 42-year-old man, and a 33-year-old woman. Tragically, one individual, identified as 37-year-old Dominique Lamonte Durham Sr., succumbed to his injuries after arriving at a hospital.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the bar's owners, Nachelle Moore and Shellie Branson, were unsuccessful as their voicemail was full. The Indianapolis Star reported that the owners did not respond to messages left for them.
