Indiana Jones Glasgow: Trongate's Parnie Street transformed for blockbuster filming

Another Glasgow street has been transformed with Americana as filming for Indiana Jones continues in the city.

The as yet untitled fifth instalment of the adventure series has shut down parts of the city centre in recent weeks, transforming buildings and businesses into Manhattan of the late 1960s and mimicking a parade for the returning Apollo 11 astronauts.

Glaswegians have gathered to watch the cameras rolling in the heart of the city with St Vincent Street closed off to traffic to facilitate the filming. And it now seems attention will turn to Trongate with a row of shops on Parnie Street given the full makeover so it can star in the blockbuster movie.

Photos shared by the GlasgowMusicCityTour account on Twitter show the likes of Ford's Liquors and Ron's Meat Market popping up in Glasgow and production staff preparing the set.

Filming is also expected to take place on Trongate, Montrose Street, Bothwell Street and Blythswood Street.

In recent days stars Phoebe Waller Bridge and Boyd Holbrook have been spotted in our city, however - as of yet - there's been no sighting of Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford, despite appearances from his body and stunt double. The film also features Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Shaunette Renee Wilson and Toby Jones.

Meanwhile, the movie's director James Mangold - who also directed The Greatest Showman, Le Mans '66 and Logan, which featured Holbrook - was pictured in Glasgow on set alongside other crew members.

Last week, St Vincent Street was adorned in the stars and stripes for a parade scene, which featured pipers playing Scotland The Brave and a brass band behind, while Harrison Ford and Boyd Holbrook body-doubles performed a dramatic chase scene.

Parts of the city centre will remain closed on various days until July 31 for filming, with the "prohibition of pedestrian movements during 'action"' in some cases.

A list of street closures and timings can be found on the Glasgow City Council website: https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/article/19741/Event-Road-Restrictions.
