Indiana Jones filming 'halted for three months' after Harrison Ford's shoulder injury

Indiana Jones famously found the Holy Grail after battling the Nazis, but the whip-toting adventurer has now been taken out of action by a nasty shoulder injury.

The fifth movie in the franchise is currently being filmed in the UK, but the shoot has now reportedly been put on pause after lead actor Harrison Ford suffered an injury onset.

The Hollywood veteran, 78, suffered a shoulder injury while filming a stunt last week.

Bosses at Disney had hoped to carry on filming, but a new report suggests the shoot will be halted for three months so Harrison can undergo surgery.

"It is Harrison's last outing as Indiana and everyone thought it would be plain sailing,” an inside source told The Sun.

"After the initial delays, everyone was raring to go. But now Harrison is injured and it is worse than first thought.

"The film's bosses have come together to work out the scheduling and it's chaos.

“The earliest they think they can restart the production is September.”

The insider adde: "It was not what anyone was expecting so to have to change everything is a huge blow.

"Everyone was concerned for Harrison and they are glad he is on the mend."

Tough to take for archaeologist Indie who has overcome the evil Thuggee cult on his incredible adventures.

But as Harrison will undoubtedly admit, he’s not the young strapping who shot to fame with his starring performances from the very first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was such a huge hit in 1981.

Since then Disney has released Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Crusade (1989), The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), as well as a spin-off TV series called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, directed by Star Wars director George Lucas.

Harrison has been filming scenes for the new film in the North East during the last couple of months, including Bamburgh Castle.

He’s also been snapped chatting to locals while out for dinner in Newcastle and sightseeing in the North Shields area and waterside.

The actor turns 79 next month and has been cycling up to 40 miles a day to stay fit for the forthcoming Indie saga.

“It’s incredible. He seems to live a very strict routine,” a source told The Mirror. “You can set your watch by the things he does at the same time every day.

“It’s clockwork, very regimented. It’s wake up, lunch, a very long bike ride, then he’s at the film set from 6pm.

“He then arrives back at the hotel around 5am. That exercise and work regime would be punishment for a man half his age. It’s real dedication.”
