Indiana coasts past Iowa in Big Ten tournament

WASHINGTON _ The problem with playing Indiana is figuring out how to keep up.

The Hoosiers' freight-train offense roared against Iowa on Thursday night for a 95-73 victory in the Big Ten tournament.

Indiana had lost eight of its previous 11 _ a terrific free fall from once being ranked No. 3 in the nation. Thursday's win marked the Hoosiers' largest margin of victory in Big Ten play this season.

"We're a product of going through so many different things this season," said Indiana coach Tom Crean, whose job security has been a subject of speculation, "that when you get into a situation like this in a tournament, because of the way the season started with a (win over) Kansas, or the really great wins that we've had, some of the tough losses that we've had, it just forges something. They just keep getting better."

James Blackmon Jr. led the way with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists. The Hoosiers (18-14) hit 12 of 20 3-pointers.

Iowa kept pace in the first half, even taking a five-point lead. Jordan Bohannon connected on 5 of 7 3-pointers before the break for 15 points, but he made only one more 3 and finished with 24 points.

Peter Jok was held to a quiet nine points, scoring only two after halftime.

The Hawkeyes (18-14) were hoping a Big Ten tournament splash could earn them an NCAA Tournament bid after ending the regular season with a four-game winning streak.
