British number one Dan Evans went out of Indian Wells as Diego Schwartzman fought back from a set down to emphatically advance to the fourth round.

The Argentine had dropped seven straight games in ceding both the opening set and a break in the second but hit back to level the match in California.

In taking that second set and winning the third unencumbered, Schwartzman reeled off ten games on the spin to take the encounter 5-7, 6-4, 6-0.

The manoeuvrable 11th seed had begun well in the morning session at the BNP Paribas Open, settling into his game quickly to take what appeared to be a commanding 5-2 lead.

Yet Evans roared back, first taking the five games required to fight from behind and win the first set and then adding both a break and a game on serve in the second with Schwartzman suddenly appearing in real strife.

However he soon settled back into a groove and was able to arrest momentum, drawing even with Evans with four games in a row.

And as the Brit began to lose steam the swift Schwartzman asserted himself, decisively taking the third set without concession as a frustrated Evans exited in the third round.

Schwartzman will next face either Casper Ruud (Norway) or Lloyd Harris of South Africa in the last 16.
