Indian restaurants around West Lothian enjoy a taste of success

Indian restaurants in West Lothian have been recognised at a national competition.

Delhi’s Winter in Linlithgow was named restaurant of the year at the Scottish Curry Awards. It also took the South East regional title.

They received their prize at a ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow last week.

Owner Raj Kalra said: “It’s great to be recognised. We really never expected it.

“We believe in hard work but it was still a surprise to win the regional category and especially to win overall.

He added: “I would like to thank the team for their hard work.

“This industry gives them challenging days every day. You need to always be motivated and doing your best.

“I’m also grateful to all our customers and everyone who voted for us.”

The awards saw restaurants and takeaways from across Scotland recognised and rewarded for their dedication to the curry industry, with the results decided by voting on social media.

Other West Lothian restaurants who received awards were Indie Roots in Bathgate, who won the best dining experience of the year for the South East, and the Bayleaf Indian Restaurant in Livingston, who won the best loved dining experience of the year for the South East.

Irfan Younis, CEO of Oceanic Consulting who sponsored the event, said: “The Scottish Curry Awards are now established and unique in their own right.

“I’ve always admired the tenacity of the curry industry despite its many challenges and that admiration has only grown following the 12th ceremony.

“The Scottish Curry Awards are one of the only means by which homage is paid to those individuals behind the country’s tastiest curries and I’d like to congratulate all winners and finalists for their fantastic achievement.”
