Indian restaurant Spice Lounge Durham temporarily closes due to 'unforeseen circumstances'

A popular Durham city indian restaurant has temporarily closed its doors.

Spice Lounge Durham, which is located at St. Nicholas Cottage, told customers via social media that it is shut until “further notice” due to unforeseen circumstances.

Customers were told "unexpected events" have held the business back and staff back from providing the service expected.

In a post on Facebook, it states: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have closed the business until further notice.

"We apologise to the customers that have booked to dine with us but unexpected events have held the business and the staff back from providing the quality service and experience that you deserve.

“We will be providing updates on our Facebook page, so you have a better understanding as to when we will reopen.”

Chef Syed Noor Hussain was part of a British team to travel to India to showcase the British curry.

He was one of just five British chefs chosen to show what the UK has to offer at an international curry festival held in Bangalore last month, which celebrated the best of British-style curries.

The Taste of Britain Curry Festival was held at the luxury ITC Windsor hotel in the city, which is modelled after the Windsor Castle.
