Indian restaurant Spice Lounge Durham reopens to customers after temporary closure

An Indian restaurant in Durham city centre that closed due to “unforeseen circumstance” has reopened.

Spice Lounge Durham, which is located at St Nicholas Cottage, told customers it was shut until “further notice” due to unforeseen circumstances.

But bosses of the popular city centre restaurant said it is now reopened to customers.

Owner Akki Miah said: “We are delighted to announce we have reopened the restaurant, closing has enabled us to re-strategise and rejuvenate our team spirit.

"We would like to thank all our customers for your continued support and long may it continue, we look forward to serving you again."

Chef Syed Noor Hussain was part of a British team to travel to India to showcase the British curry.

He was one of just five British chefs chosen to show what the UK has to offer at an international curry festival held in Bangalore last month, which celebrated the best of British-style curries.

The Taste of Britain Curry Festival was held at the luxury ITC Windsor hotel in the city, which is modelled after the Windsor Castle.
