Indian restaurant in Sherwood could be demolished and replaced by apartments

An Indian restaurant in Sherwood could be flattened to make way for more than a dozen apartments.

Plans have been tabled to demolish the Viceroy Restaurant, in Hucknall Road, and the adjoining Hillcrest Garage to the east, off Hillcrest Grove.

Up to 14 apartments, a coach house and two family properties are earmarked to transform the land.

A planning document submitted to Nottingham City Council states: "The proposed development consists of a mix of apartments (a mixture of one and two-bed) which are to meet the identified demand for private-rented apartments in close proximity to the hospital and prison, alongside an element of family housing."

The applicant was listed as Mr A Connolly, of Connolly Land & Developments Ltd.

Both the restaurant and the garage did not wish to comment.
