Indian restaurant in Ayrshire closes after member of staff contracts COVID-19

An Indian restaurant in Ayrshire has been forced to close suddenly due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

The 3idiots, in Ayr’s George Street, announced the news today and confirmed that one staff member has contracted the virus.

A statement on their social media page read as follows: “Unfortunately one of our staff members has tested positive for COVID-19.

“We closed as a precaution, when a staff member — who was at home — began to show symptoms.

“We have remained closed until a test was confirmed.

“We will continue to remain closed for an isolation period as a precaution — although no other staff members have tested positive — before reopening in approximately 10 days after carrying out a deep clean of the premises.

“We will update on our social media when you can expect to see us reopen.”

Bosses have also confirmed that all tables booked up until May 7 will be cancelled.

The statement adds: “We will try to contact as many customers as possible but as we are doing this from home it may not be possible to contact everyone. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Take care and stay safe.”
