Indian national found dead inside mission in Bangladesh

DHAKA: Bangladesh police on Tuesday recovered the body of an Indian national from the premises of the Indian assistant high commission in Chittagong’s Khulshi area.

The deceased has been identified as Narender (35) — son of Ram Niwas and a resident of Haryana —who was a security assistant at the mission, police said. According to official sources in Delhi, there was no indication of any foul play yet. Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) director Brig Gen Mohammad Taslim Uddin told reporters that Narender was brought to the hospital dead.

No injury marks or suspicious signs were found on the body at the time, he said, adding the exact cause of death would be determined after the postmortem report is received. Police said Narender’s colleagues became concerned after receiving no response from his room, and later alerted authorities. The body was sent to CMCH for postmortem, police said, adding inquest found no apparent abnormalities.
