Indian hits back at 'shameless' TripAdvisor review of three-course meal for £3.50

An Indian restaurant has gone viral after a brutal put-down of a customer who slated its £3.50 three-course meal online.

A review claimed staff at Shimla Cottage in Coatbridge, Scotland, had an "awful lack of manners" before going on to criticise the sizes of the portions in the deal.

The customer ordered pakora, a chicken-based main course and fudge cake for desert, reports the Daily Record.

The person behind the review, posted last month, was there for a large family meal and even claimed the bargain price "felt like a rip-off".

The Shimla's owner however didn't hold back with his response, with a lot of Twitter users seeming to take his side after screenshots were posted on the site.

Nearly 2,000 people liked the tweet, which showed the Cottage's comeback.

It said: "Judging from the waist line of most of your party I could have served them a full cow and they would still have left hungry."

It went on to justify the sizes of the portions by reiterating they were from the £3.50 menu and urged the writer of the review "not to come back".

Local Twitter users responded in their droves to the Tweet with the Cottage gaining more support than criticism.

Martin Sharkey said: "Been there for the £3.50 lunch a few times. Can't beat it."

Davie Smith commented: "£3.50 menu is decent, it's enough to tide you over for a lunch and the folk moaning deserve the abuse they get."

Jamie Egan wrote: "Food in here is superb so is the £3.50 lunch!! Superb value it certainly fills you for a lunch."
