India will do exceptionally well in Asian Games: Sports minister Anurag Thakur

NEW DELHI: Sports Minister Anurag Thakur expressed strong optimism on Monday, asserting that the continuously advancing Indian athletes are poised to achieve remarkable success in the imminent Asian Games scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.

Notably, India will field its largest-ever contingent of 634 athletes for the Asian Games, signifying a historic representation for the country in this prestigious sporting event.

"For the past few years, India has done exceptionally well in all sports. Today our sportspersons are bringing laurels to India on the world stage. I have full faith that India will do exceptionally well in the medal tally in the upcoming Asian Games also," Thakur said at the National Institute of Sports in Patiala.

Thakur engaged with the athletes and coaches set to participate in the Asian Games, delving into their preparations for the significant competition.

Moreover, during his visit, Thakur inaugurated numerous sports development initiatives at the NIS. These projects, amounting to a total of Rs 13 crore, mark a substantial investment in advancing sports infrastructure and facilities.
