India vs West Indies: The way Virat Kohli played spin in 1st Test is a lesson for youngsters, says Vikram Rathour

India's batting coach Vikram Rathour believes the way Virat Kohli tackled left-arm spinners in his 76-run knock during the first Test against West Indies in Dominica is a "lesson for the youngsters".

"By the time he came out to bat on that wicket, there was a lot of turn and bounce on offer. The way he defended against left-arm spinners, it was a lesson for many, many youngsters about how to play when the ball goes away from you," said Rathour in a video posted by BCCI on Twitter.

"The way he defended and played, it was extremely good to watch...He will surely score a hundred soon."

Virat's patient knock saw him facing 182 deliveries and included only 5 fours.

"As a batting coach, I think batting and cricket is about adaptability. He (Kohli) is an aggressive player who likes to dominate, but the better player is one who can change his game according to the conditions and knows how to play as per the team's requirements...and that is Virat’s biggest quality.

"He is somebody who can play different formats differently. He can change his game according to the conditions and he has shown that (in his career)," the former India opener said.
