NEW DELHI: In what came as a surprise and shock in equal measure, India's Test skipper Virat Kohli was ruled out of the fourth Test against South Africa at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
KL Rahul will stand in as the visitors' skipper and informed at the toss that Kohli has "upper back spasms" and was not fully fit to play.
Middler-order batsman Hanuma Vihari replaced Kohli in India's playing XI, as Rahul won the toss and decided to bat first.
India lead the three-match series 1-0 and are on the verge of becoming the first Indian team to win a Test series in South Africa.
