India will contest their World Cup semi-final against New Zealand on Tuesday after Australia's defeat to South Africa shook up the standings heading into the last four.
India were on course to face hosts England before the holders were narrowly beaten in a thriller at Old Trafford.
After making a fast start to the tournament, the Black Caps lost their last three round-robin games and scraped through to the semi-finals in fourth place to set up tomorrow's with favourites India in Manchester.
They are heavy underdogs to get to their second successive final but captain Daniel Vettori has warned anything is possible if New Zealand hit the ground running.
