India vs England: Mohammed Siraj rested from second Test to manage workload

NEW DELHI: Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been given a break for the second Test against England in Vizag in a strategic move by the Indian team management. The decision was announced on Friday, considering Siraj's heavy workload over the past few months.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement saying, "Mohd. Siraj has been released from the India squad for the second Test against England in Vizag. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times. He will be available for selection for the third Test in Rajkot. Avesh Khan has re-joined the team for the 2nd Test."

Scorecard: India vs England, 2nd Test

Indian captain Rohit Sharma, speaking at the toss, confirmed the decision, stating, "Siraj has been rested so that he can spend some time at home before he comes back and is available for the third Test."

Avesh Khan, who was released to play in the Ranji Trophy during the first Test, has now rejoined the Indian squad for the second Test. The rotation and management of players' workloads have become crucial, especially in the context of back-to-back Test matches and the busy international cricket calendar.

Siraj, known for his consistent performances, will have the opportunity to recharge and be available for selection in the third Test in Rajkot. This move highlights the team's focus on player well-being and long-term performance sustainability.
