It's day three of the first Test between England and India at Edgbaston.
Joe Root's side are taking on the world's best, Virat Kohli's No 1 ranked team, in the most-anticipated Test series of the year. For Kohli's men it's the chance to cement their place as one of the great teams of the last decade after dominating the long form of the game for the last three years.
Kohli put on a masterclass on day two with his majestic 149 dragging the tourists back from what looked like being a heavy deficit to only 13 behind. Ravi Ashwin then removed Alastair Cook for the second day in succession just before the close and then returned to rip through England's top order. Ishant Sharma grabbed a five-for before Sam Curran's late counterattack left India chasing 194 to win.

Anderson to Kohli. Kohli jabs a fuller ball into the ground and back to a frustrated bowler. A little bit of movement on the third ball and the India captain opts against playing it. Kohli leaves the last two too, and that's a maiden.

Curran to Kohli. These two have been instrumental in the ebbs and flows off this match and this battle seems crucial. Kohli just misses one narrowly flying past his bat, and on the fourth delivery it slaps Kohli high on the back leg. Big appeal... not out... review! But Hawkeye shows the ball was tracking over the stumps and that's a review lost.

Anderson to Kohli: Kohli picks up three with a beautifully timed push through cover. Rahane goes on the defensive, leaving two and blocking one to see out the over safely. Very slowly, something might be building for India here.

Curran to Kohli, and the India captain pings a boundary immediately, stepping forwards and driving through cover. He leaves a couple before nudging another single to keep strike.

Rahane picks off a couple of runs through square with a defensive prod, then sees out Stokes's variety of short stuff and fuller balls. And that's drinks.

Curran, straight in off the momentum of that last Stokes delivery, is motoring and is screaming for one that flies through Kohli. Did it hit wood on the way through? He thinks so but Bairstow is less convinced and they let it go. UltraEdge suggests that was a sensible decision. Curran looks dangerous but so too is Kohli as one that is just too wide is gobbled up and that's India's 50.

Over 15: India 46-3 (chasing 194)
Stokes in again with Rahul facing. Will be looking to extract a little more from this 14-over-old ball than he did last over. It's not moving a great deal but, obviously, it doesn't need to move that far to find that edge. We'll definitely see Adil Rashid before the close here but not just yet with the new cherry still offering the quicks something.
And there it is, Stokes has his man. Rahul is sent packing as Stokes lands one on the perfect length on this track and the batsman has no chance as one nibbles just enough, catches that edge and Bairstow collects. Brilliant bowling.

Here comes the hero of the piece, Sam Curran. Fresh from his batting heroics the 20-year-old is into the attack in place of Broad. He'll be looking to swing a few into both Rahul and Kohli's pads, but both will need to be aware of the odd one that goes across. Curran has got good shape in this Test and that's an encouraging start. Just two off it.

Stokes, who bowled so well in the first innings, is on for his first look and he'll get a crack at Kohli straight away. That's no good though as a wide loosener is sent all the way to the point fence where, the replay shows, it was just stopped short by Buttler. Three for the Indian skipper. One more for Rahul.

Broad's turn to have a dig at Kohli now. He hits him on the pads high and he scrambles a dashed single. Rahul survives a half-shout as he leaves one that clips his pads alone. Broad thinks about taking it upstairs, for a change, but wisely thinks better of it.

Kohli facing up to Anderson again and as he was yesterday is batting well outside of his crease to combat that sideways movement. As Michael Atherton notes that will also help him to play the ball that little bit later than normally and, should he nick one, help it fall short of the cordon. That's the theory, of course. The reality could be different should he middle one. More circumspect stuff from Kohli as he again chooses defence over attack to England's main man.

Broad back again seemingly with all of the West Midlands with him. He raps Rahul and likes it - shock - but nothing doing. And another ripper, this time finding the inside edge only to flash past leg stump all the way the fine leg boundary. Streaky.

Kohli vs Anderson Round Two then. The Indian skipper got the best of him yesterday - how will England's record wicket-taker respond? A few fuller, wider ones get the watching brief from Kohli before a jaffer beats him all ends up.

And another. Oh boy. Here we go. Broad has Dhawan and this is going to be some session. A full one tempts him in but he only gets a sliver of it and Bairstow grabs it.
The crowd are going bananas. Broad is prowling like a prize fighter. This is vintage Test cricket.
Look who's walking in. Yep, it's Kohli. This is box office.
He whips his first one away for one. Broad goes for the miracle, perfect yorker to Rahul but it's too full and he tucks in. Four.

The Hollies Stand are feeling it. Sources close to the situation suggest they may have been drinking this afternoon but I can't be 100% sure. More as we get it.
It's loud inside Edgbaston now as Anderson, still seething after another missed chance, runs in with just that little more fire in his belly. New man Rahul looks for a single and takes on the arm of man of the moment Curran to do so. Direct hit! But he's safely home. It's all happening.

Broad firing the crowd up there as he stands at the end of his run, which according to your level of optimism is a perfect example of his ability to seize the moment, or about to make him look extremely silly when India win by seven wickets. Is he about to go on one here? We all know what he can do when he gets going, but interestingly he doesn't really tend to this early in a series.

Broad hoping for more luck that his running mate Anderson as he chugs in once more. Vijay tucks into one that is slightly too straight and adds two more. How many will he make England pay for?
Not many at all it seems as Broad crashes one into his pads as he inexplicably leaves one that ducks into him late. It's hit him outside the line but no matter, he's on his way back. And there's no one more relieved than Dawid Malan. England have their first.

That's more like it for Dhawan as he leans into one that's oh so slightly overpitched and they run three deep into the covers. Anderson didn't have a crumb of luck in the first innings and it's not changed here as the first chance goes begging, Malan (again) the guilty party as a flashy drive from Vijay goes straight to him but his dive is mistimed and he shells it. It's a sharp one but he really should be taking it, especially in these circumstances.
