England face India in the second Test at Lord's.
Sam Curran was the hero at Edgbaston taking four wickets in the first innings before turning the game in the second with the bat with a thrilling 63 counter-attack. England must do without Ben Stokes at the home of cricket, however, as his trial continues at Bristol Crown Court. Joe Root hopes that 20-year-old Ollie Pope, in for Dawid Malan, will help share the load in the all-rounder's absence.
Virat Kohli scored over 200 runs last time out but needs more help from his own batsman as they look to level the series.
We will have all the latest throughout the day here.
Live Updates

It's been a washout! Not only have the best people not turned up (to be fair, nobody turned up after tea), but there hasn't been a single ball bowled on this opening day of this second Test. Following five thrilling days of cricket last week, it's been a disappointing start to part two of this Test series after constant rain meant that the covers never came off the Lord's square. The frustration will be felt most by Ollie Pope, who will have to wait a day longer for his international debut, and Virat Kohli, a captain eager to lead an Indian resurgence in England.
The outlook is brighter for the rest of the week, and we hope there is much more to come in this match. There is certainly more to come in this finely poised series. We'll be back tomorrow to try all over again with live updates from 10am.

Play Abandoned
That inspection has taken place, and the umpires have decided that there will be no play on this first day of the second Test between England and India at Lord's.
16:38
It has just been announced that there will be a further and, you'd expect, final inspection in 15 minutes time. Watch this rather damp space.
16:37
The rain was due to have moved east of northwest London by this point in the day, but has instead decided to undesirably stick around like Michael Gove.
To reiterate, play could potentially continue until 7pm this evening but only if it gets underway by 5.59pm.

Brolly means Brolly.

16:08
Update: It's still raining.
15:47
The umpires and ground staff have got together on the outfield and are discussing - we believe - how long they will need to prepare the pitch should the covers come off. In the absence of a qualified lip reader, we're plucking for hearsay to say approximately one hour.
15:42
The only sweeps that we've seen at Lord's today.

15:21
David Gower has spoken, and when the great man speaks, you listen.
The Sky Sports anchor believes there are signs of a change in the weather and that we could soon see the covers removed so that the umpires out to inspect conditions. There may yet be a short session of play on this first day.
15:04
It's now a repeat of the final ODI between England and Australia from earlier this summer. As England's football team were putting six past Panama in Russia, Jos Buttler's heroics at Old Trafford were rescuing the cricket team from the jaws of defeat to seal a 5-0 series success.
What a glorious day that was.
14:31
There are murmurs among the would-be meteorologists inside the MCC that the clouds may be clearing and we may yet see some play this afternoon.
There is the option of an extra hour this evening should the players find themselves out in the middle before time is called on the day.

Here's my top three most disappointing (and costly) washouts:
- Test match live blogging debut, 2018
- Glastonbury, 2005
- Downstairs neighbour's bathroom, 2017

Having exhausted coverage of this series' first Test match, Sky Sports are now showing a repeat of the 2011 World Cup match between England and India. Let's hope the sun comes out soon, there's only another 149 years of international cricket to choose from.
The covers are still on at Lord's, the weather remains overcast and there continues to be spots of rain in the air.

Sigh.

Anyway, that's enough about Jonathan Liew, here's an article about Virat Kohli.
Worshipped by many and considered a genius in his field, there is no doubt that he is holding the place together while his teammates flatter to deceive.

Nothing doin'.
I'm not sure Sam Curran needs the binoculars to clarify that's there little happening out in the middle.

12:42
When - if - the rain eventually stops, Ollie Pope will make his Test debut despite having played just 15 first class matches for Surrey. Here's the lowdown on England's latest young gun.
12:33
What's on the menu today? No cricket at the moment, that's for sure.
An early lunch is expected as the weather continues to delay the start of the second Test.

The general feeling in St John's Wood today.
