India vs Bangladesh, 2nd Test: Cheteshwar Pujara completes 7000 Test runs, goes past Don Bradman

DHAKA: Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara on Friday reached the landmark of 7,000 Test runs, going past the legendary Don Bradman's tally while playing against Bangladesh in the first innings of the second Test here.

Pujara completed his 7,000 runs in the longest format, overtaking Bradman's 6,996 runs during play on day two at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

Pujara swept Shakib Al Hasan in the 19th over of the day for three runs to reach the milestone. He was later dismissed by Taijul Islam for 24, as India reached 86/3 at lunch on Friday. The visitors had bowled out Bangladesh for 227 in their first innings.

The right-handed batsman became the eighth Indian to score 7,000 Test runs.

Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag are the other Indian batters in the 7,000-run club.

Tendulkar is the leading run scorer in Test cricket with 15,921 runs from 329 innings.

Pujara had scored a century (102*) in the second innings of the first Test match, helping India set a massive target for the hosts and later registering a big win.
