New Delhi: The first official glimpse of India’s proposed bullet train, set to operate on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, has been unveiled. An image of the high-speed train has been installed at gate number 4 at the Ministry of Railways in New Delhi. The 508-km rail link — India’s first bullet train project — will connect Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Sabarmati in Ahmedabad through a dedicated high-speed network designed to transform inter-city travel in western India. The train, reportedly, will be able to reach speeds of up to 320 km/h, covering key cities including Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara and Anand.
The project is expected to strengthen connectivity between major industrial and commercial hubs in western India, while also benefiting towns such as Boisar, Bharuch and Ankleshwar, according to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL).

The corporation is a joint venture of the Government of India and participating state governments for implementing high-speed rail projects.
The project marks a major step in India’s push towards world-class high-speed rail connectivity and faster intercity transportation. Once operational, the bullet train is expected to complete the journey in around 2 hours and 7 minutes for limited-stop services like Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad , significantly reducing travel time compared to conventional rail and road transport.
