India take squad mentality into T20 finals

India coach Rahul Dravid has full faith in his entire star-studded squad ahead of their Twenty20 World Cup semi-final showdown with England.

India secured top spot in Group 2 with a resounding 71-run win against Zimbabwe on Sunday night to head into the final-four as arguably the form side.

It was India's fourth win of the tournament, more than fellow semi-finalists England, New Zealand and Pakistan.

They will head to the Adelaide Oval for Thursday night's blockbuster clash with England, with the Black Caps meeting Pakistan at the SCG on Wednesday.

India picked Rishabh Pant for his first game of the T20 World Cup against Zimbabwe but the explosive wicketkeeper-batter failed to fire and was out for three.

Dravid said his XI was far from settled as India seek to win a second T20 World Cup and first since 2007, but believed that was a positive.

"We will keep a completely open mind about everyone in our 15," he told reporters.

"We believe that anybody who comes into the team will not potentially make us weaker.

"To be able to get through to the top four is nice and we're happy about it but hopefully we've got a couple of good days left us in yet."

If they can qualify for the final, India they will have the majority of the crowd behind them after two stunning matches at the MCG during the group stage.

A bumper crowd of 82,507 turned out for India's match against Zimbabwe following on from the classic against Pakistan when 90,293 attended.

Virat Kohil earned the plaudits for his tremendous match-winning knock against Pakistan, but it was Suryakumar Yadav, the world's No.1 T20 batter, who stole the show this time.

Yadav lit up the MCG with a scintillating unbeaten 61 from 25 balls to have the pro-Indian crowd in awe.

"If I look at Surya from a couple of years ago just to see how he takes care of his body and the amount of time he spends on his fitness," Dravid said.

"I think he's just really earning the rewards for a lot of the hard work that he's put in on and off the field."
