India are set to face Pakistan in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins next month.
Both India and Pakistan have been placed in Group 1 and will clash in the sixth group-stage match of the tournament. The high-voltage encounter will be played at Edgbaston on June 14 at 7 PM IST. The match will also mark the World Cup opener for both teams.
The Indian side will once again be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, who will captain India in a Women’s T20 World Cup for the fifth time.
Since the last T20 World Cup, India have won 13 of their 22 T20Is. However, their recent form has been less impressive. In 2026, India have managed to win only three of their eight T20 internationals, including a recent 1-4 series defeat against South Africa. India’s best performance in the tournament came in 2020, when they reached the final in Melbourne before losing to hosts Australia in front of a packed crowd.
Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh and the Netherlands are the other teams in India’s group. The top two teams from the group will qualify for the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Pakistan have announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, to be led by experienced all-rounder Fatima Sana.
The squad includes five players who will be making their Women’s T20 World Cup debuts: Eyman Fatima, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Saira Jabeen and Tasmia Rubab.
Pakistan squad: Fatima Sana (captain), Gull Feroza, Ayesha Zafar, Iram Javed, Eyman Fatima, Aliya Riaz, Natalia Parvaiz, Saira Jabeen, Muneeba Ali, Tuba Hassan, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sandhu, Diana Baig and Tasmia Rubab.
