Indian lifter Sanjana put up an impressive performance in the women's 76kg category at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Greater Noida on Wednesday.
She won a gold medal in the clean and jerk, lifting 112kg, and also secured a silver medal in the snatch with an effort of 86kg in the youth competition. Her combined effort in the total lift was 198kg, earning her another silver medal.
In the same weight category, Uzbekistan's Madina Fayzullaeva performed exceptionally well and took home multiple medals. She won a gold medal in the snatch with a lift of 89kg, as well as a gold medal in the total lift with an impressive effort of 200kg. Additionally, she secured a silver medal in the clean and jerk with a lift of 111kg.
Iran's Asal Kadkhodaei also displayed a strong performance and earned three bronze medals in the snatch (78kg), clean and jerk (96kg), and total lift (174kg).
In this championship, medals are awarded separately for snatch, clean and jerk, and total lift, recognising the outstanding achievements of weightlifters in each specific category.
Sanjana's outstanding gold medal in clean and jerk and her impressive overall performance led her to secure a well-deserved place on the podium, showcasing her talent and dedication in weightlifting.
