India's para shuttlers welcome PCI's move to include two more badminton events in 2024 Paralympics

MUMBAI: Indian para shuttlers Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam have welcomed the International Paralympic Committee's announcement on Thursday that there will be two more medal opportunities for para badminton in the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

"The first edition of Paralympic Badminton was a success and it got great response from everywhere. It is the right move to add two new categories in the Paris Paralympics in 2024. This inclusion will help the game grow," Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist and World No 1 para shuttler Pramod Bhagat told TOI.

World No 5 para shuttler Kadam said, "This is great news for the para badminton community. Women SL3 and Women SH6 categories have been added to the competition and India is very strong in SL3 women category, so definitely India is going to get more medals in Paris 2024."
