India's Anuj Kichlu in FIFA's working group for agents

PANAJI: India’s Anuj Kichlu is the only representative from South Asia in the influential FIFA Football Agent Working Group, a consultative body composed of 18 representatives from across the world.

Kolkata-based Kichlu, a player agent since 2012, works with Spanish agency Best of You (BOY), representatives of Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. The group has been formed following the establishment of the FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR).

The group will act as a permanent consultative body in relation to football agent matters, including the practical implementation of the new framework.

“The establishment of the working group is a key initiative that will enable us to continue our constructive dialogue with agent organisations across the world regarding the implementation of the new framework and any potential changes in the future,” said FIF chief legal and compliance officer Emilio Garcia Silvero.

Kichlu will guide FIFA, the governing body for world football, how agents operate in this part of the world.

“This gives Indian football a good opportunity,” Kichlu told TOI. “India is a completely different market. While voices from Europe are largely heard, it’s now good to have the region’s voice as well. My role is to inform the decision makers how the business is operated, so that when policy-making decisions are taken, the region’s interests are taken care of.”

FIFA has come up with new regulations that introduces basic service standards for football agents and their clients.
